World Bank to support Kyrgyzstan in energy sector reform

Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2022. /Kabar/. Washington hosts the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of e Kyrgyzstan reported. Kyrgyzstan is represented at the meeting by Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev, Minister of Finance Almaz Baketaev and Advisor to the International Monetary Fund Tolkunbek Abdygulov. They held talks with the leadership of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, in particular with WB Vice President for Infrastructure Riccardo Puliti, WB Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde with the participation of Director of the WB Resident Mission in Kyrgyzstan Naveed Hassan Naqvi. The sides discussed broad prospects for cooperation in energy, transport, agribusiness, tourism and private sector development. The World Bank confirmed its support for the reform of the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan, as well as assistance to the Cabinet of Ministers in mitigating the consequences of the global food and energy crisis, rising inflation, the ministry said. The meeting of the Board of Governors of the WB and IMF group is held annually. The meeting discusses a wide range of issues related to poverty reduction, international economic development and financial activities.
