Iraqi president urges investment by Iranian companies

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Friday called for investment of Iranian companies in his country.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi Qomi, said a statement issued by the Iraqi Presidential Office last night at the Iraqi capital.


During the meeting, the two sides reviewed issues of mutual interest including further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two neighborly states.

Further activation of the Iranian companies and their participation in various Iraqi development projects were stressed by the two officials.

President Talabani and the Iranian envoy underscored the need for boosting Tehran-Baghdad economic and trade relations, added the statement.

The Iranian ambassador also voiced Tehran’s support for the ongoing democratic trend in Iraq.
