FMs of Kyrgyzstan and Qatar discuss topical issues of cooperation

Bishkek, Oct 10, 2022 / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev paid an official visit to the State of Qatar on October 8-9, 2022 at the invitation of his counterpart. During the visit, Kulubaev met with Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurakhman Al Thani. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the meeting the sidesdiscussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Qatari relations, in particular, the organization of mutual visits at the highest and high levels, the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The sides focused their attention on issues of trade, investment, opening of direct flights, implementation of joint projects and participation of the Kyrgyz side in international events taking place in Qatar. The recent military conflict with Tajikistan was discussed, in connection with which the Kyrgyz minister appealed to the Qatari side to assist in the restoration of destroyed houses and social infrastructure of the Batken region. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar assured that he would carefully study the request of the Kyrgyz side. Kulubaev invited his counterpart to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan in 2023, timed to coincide with the anniversary date - the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. In the context of preparations for holding the World Cup in Qatar in November-December of this year, the head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry wished success to the Qatari side, noting that this event is historical not only for Qatar, but for the entire Muslim world. As a result, the sides agreed to speed up the implementation of the plans and maintain constant contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
