Thai police: Kung Fu star may have died as a result of self-imposed sexual mishap

BANGKOK, June 5 (TNA) – Thai police on Friday said they found no evidence of any kind suggesting Hollywood ‘Kung Fu’ and ‘Kill Bill’ actor David Carradine was murdered, while a Thai forensic expert believes his death may have been caused by an "autoerotic accident."

The 72-year-old actor was found dead, hanging naked with a rope tied around his neck and sex organ, in a closet in his room at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel on Thursday.

Bangkok Metropolitan Police chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Worapong Chewpreecha said that although Carradine’s death was unlike a normal hanging suicide, no evidence linked the actor's death to a murder attempt.

"We have checked the hotel’s closed circuit television (CCTV) footage and investigated the hotel’s employees, but found no suspicion circumstances to suggesting he was murdered," said the Bangkok police chief.

Representatives of the US Embassy in Bangkok have been invited for a briefing about the investigation and to receive information pertaining to the cause of the actor’s death, said Pol. Lt. Gen. Worapong, adding that police are awaiting results of an autopsy from Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Worapong said that police expect to conclude Carradine’s cause of death as soon as the autopsy results are known.

Meanwhile, Dr. Pornthip Rojanasunand, director of the Forensic Science Institute, the Thai Ministry of Justice, said that according to the circumstances surrounding Carradine’s death, the Hollywood actor may have died as the result of an "auto-erotic accident."

Dr. Pornthip elaborated that an ‘autoerotic accident’ occurs as the result of the victim indulging in an attempt to intensify his sexual fantasy. In this case, it is possible that the actor was unaware that the rope was tied around his neck too tightly as he indulged his fantasy, which may have led to his death.

"In the case of victims of an ‘autoerotic accident’, a naked body - usually a man - is often found with the sex organ bound by rope or cord and his neck similarily tied," said Dr. Pornthip.

The Thai forensic expert concluded that if the dead body was found under such circumstances, it is unlikely it was a case of murder.

But this is only the initial forensic theory based on the evidence thus far, she added. (TNA)
