Man admits two shootings, kidnapping
A man has admitted kidnapping a drug dealer whose body was dismembered, as well as
shooting a pub patron in a botched plan to kill a Bandidos bikie.
Sean Laurence Waygood, 38, also pleaded guilty in Sydney's Central Local Court to
shooting another man as he left a pub.
As well as admitting to 10 offences on Thursday, Waygood was charged with 14 new
offences, including a string of armed robberies.
Waygood pleaded guilty to kidnapping drug dealer Terry Falconer, who was abducted
from his Ingleburn jail release placement in November 2001 by three men posing as
police.
He also admitted being an accessary after the fact of Falconer's murder, which
police allege was committed by Anthony John Michael Perish, 39, and Mathew Robert
Lawton, 40.
According to the police statement of facts, Waygood said he kidnapped Falconer at
the request of Perish, who wanted to question him.
He said Falconer was knocked out using chloroform and then locked in a "large metal
tool box", which was eventually taken to an address in Girvan, on NSW's mid-north
coast.
After Falconer was allegedly found dead when the box was opened, Waygood said Perish
removed the teeth from the body, smashing them with a hammer.
"His body was raised from the floor using a block and tackle before all three
accused persons participated in his dismemberment using various implements,"
according to the police facts.
Seven garbage bags containing Falconer's body parts were later found dumped in the
Hastings River in northern NSW.
Waygood also pleaded guilty to shooting at Raniera Puketapu, intending to murder
him, at a pub in Sydney's Haymarket in October 2002.
He further admitted conspiring to murder former Bandidos member Felix Lyle and/or
his son Dallas Fitzgerald at the Haymarket pub between July and October 2002.
Police allege Waygood conspired with Anthony Perish to murder both or either man,
but mistakenly shot Mr Puketapu who was similar in appearance to the son.
The victim had been sitting with his back to a window through which Waygood fired
eight shots, according to the police facts.
Immediately after the shooting, Waygood ran around the corner shouting: "Get down,
police".
Waygood also pleaded guilty to shooting Gary Mack as he left his work at the
Peakhurst Inn in the early hours of October 14, 2001.
"The accused stated he shot the person in the buttock on behalf of another person,"
the facts said.
The other charges he pleaded guilty to related to firearm matters and to using a
police uniform.
The new charges cover eight armed robberies, mostly in 2001, a break and enter,
damage to property by fire, stealing a motorcycle, possessing a tablet press, and
manufacturing and supplying MDMA (ecstasy).
The offences he admitted to were adjourned to the NSW District Court until June 12,
while the new offences were put over to October 1 in Central Local Court.
