Sadyr Zhaparov honors memory of first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov

Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2022. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov honored the memory of first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. Arriving in Samarkand to participate in the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Sadyr Zhaparov visited the Hazrati Khizr complex, where the mausoleum of Islam Karimov is located. The head of state laid flowers on the tombstone of the first president of Uzbekistan, and a memorial prayer was read. The Hazrat Khizr Mosque is a unique monument of antiquity in Samarkand, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 2016, Islam Karimov was buried next to the mosque.
