Syria favors railway connection with Iran
Syrian Transportation Minister Yaaroub Suleiman Bader here on Tuesday stressed the need to link Syrian railway to that of Iran.
Talking to IRNA in Damascus, he said that connecting the two countries’ railways will help develop transportation between Syria, Turkey, Iran and Iraq.
He further noted that his ministry is planning to establish cargo and passenger transportation networks among the four countries.
Syria’s railway will be linked with Iran through Iraq, he said, adding that this means that Syria will gain access to Iran’s production centers and Iran to Mediterranean Sea.
According to him, there is broad cooperation between Iran and Syria in the fields of railway and bridge construction as well as repair of wagons.
Suleiman Bader also expressed his ministry’s readiness to provide various facilities to Iranian pilgrims in the country.
