Chairman of Shoura Council attends local council conference

HUDEIDA, June 01 (Saba)-Chairman of Shoura Council Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Ghani attended
on Monday the expanded conference of local authority commenced here on Tuesday under
the motto of "Active Management is the Foundation of Inclusive Development".

Ministers, members of parliaments, members of local councils, administrative
leaderships, political activists, judges, scholars, academics and representatives of
civil society organizations attended the conference which will last for two days.

Opening the conference, Abdul-Ghani who is also supervising the conference,
Abdul-Ghani delivered a speech in which he highlighted the governorate and described
it as the supply of Yemen and the store of the country wealth.

He also highlighted holding these conferences in Hudeida and other governorates.
"These conferences represent intentions and plans of this democratic and unity age
and embodiment to the democratic system our people chose through results of
referendum on Yemen's constitution in 1991."

He reflected aims of these conferences, responding to local development and
discovering faults and merits in performance of local councils.

"These conferences come after five months of approving strategy of local governance
by the government and the national program for carrying it out," said Abdul-Ghani.

He described the strategy as strong expression of wise and political will." Kicking
off this strategy will represent one of important approaches to modernization and
institutional improvement."

He talked about president Saleh's intention to apply the local governance with wide
authorization.

"President has adopted the local governance with wide authorization. We expect from
participants prospects benefiting to bring this intention into success," said
Chairman of Shoura Council.
