Zhaparov, Rahmon discuss Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation

Bishkek, July 22, 2022 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul Oblast. During the meeting, they discussed current issues of Kyrgyz-Tajik bilateral cooperation, as well as the regional and international agenda, the press service of the Kyrgyz leader said. In particular, an agreement was reached to intensify the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Comprehensive Review of Bilateral Cooperation and the Intergovernmental Commission on Delimitation and Demarcation of the State Border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Zhaparov and Rahmon decided to resume the work of the Kyrgyz-Tajik interagency working group for consideration of issues related to water use. Regarding the work of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), the two leaders spoke in favor of continuing efforts of all founding states to reform the organizational structure and contractual-legal framework of IFAS, taking into account the interests of all countries of the region without exception. Sadyr Zhaparov and Emomali Rahmon stressed the importance of continuing regular political dialogue to strengthen good-neighborliness between the two states and peoples, noting the need to resolve issues taking into account the interests of the parties peacefully through political and diplomatic negotiations.
