Pakistani politicians praise Iran's transparent electoral process

Two Pakistani political leaders on Monday praised transparency in Iran's electoral process stressing that has made Iran a strong democratic state.

Speaking separately to IRNA about Iran's upcoming Presidential election, slated for June 12, the two senior politicians said they beleived that Iranians had the chance to vote freely.

"The electoral process in Iran is very transparent and we expect that this time also the result of the election will be according to the choice of the masses", said Chairman of Pakistan People's Party Sherpao group and member of National Assembly Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao.

He expressed hope that the next president of Iran "will have the mandate of his public."

Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said that the people of Iran and Pakistan "are very close to each other and their friendship does not depend on change of governments."

"In my opinion next president of Iran will continue the policy of strengthening the bilateral ties between Iran and Pakistan", Sherpao added.

Meanwhile, Senator Zahid Khan, spokesman of Awami National Party, told IRNA that Iran enjoyed a "very stable democracy" and people are free to elect their representatives.

"All those countries are making progress where democracy is strong and Iran is one of those countries", he maintained.

Zahid Khan stated despite of difficult times, elections in Iran have been regularly taking place.

"It is the beauty of the democratic system that people are free to express their choice through their votes", he opined.

Zahid Khan said that Iran and Pakistan had a long history of cordial and friendly relations and people of both countries were very close mentally, rather "they share same sentiments."

"The strong bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan are vital for the stability in the region", Zahid Khan stressed.
