1.2 mln hectares of crops sown in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, July 14, 2022. /Kabar/. The total area under crops in 2022 amounted to more than 1.2 million hectares, which is 0.2% more than the previous year. The National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan reported that the growth was provided by an increase in cultivated areas of barley by 7.1%, cotton - by 12.5% and fodder crops - 1.1%. In addition, the area of oilseeds increased by 4.5%, tobacco by 6.5% and vegetables by 1.9%. Along with this, there was decrease of sown areas of wheat by 6.7%, leguminous crops - by 5.9%, food crops - by 2.7%, sugar beet - by 11.3%, rice - by 6.2% as well as potatoes - by 0.9%. The largest share of sown area falls on farms of Chui Oblast - 33,9%, Issyk-Kul Oblast - 15%, Osh Oblast - 14,7%, Jalal-Abad Oblast - 12,9% and Naryn Oblast - 9,1%.
