Magpies blitz Power by 38 points

Collingwood have blitzed Port Adelaide in the second half to win their AFL twilight
match by 38 points at the MCG.

The Magpies set up the 17.12 (114) to 11.10 (76) win with a nine-goal surge either
side of half-time, including the first seven goals of the third quarter.
John Anthony kicked four of those nine goals and midfielder Dane Swan was
outstanding with 48 disposals as Port lost successive games for the first time this
year.
Both teams are on five wins apiece after the last game of round 10.
Brett Ebert kicked three goals for Port and captain Domenic Cassisi, as always,
worked hard for his 30 touches.
Collingwood welcomed back key players Alan Didak and Dale Thomas from injury - Didak
kicked three goals and Thomas had 13 possessions.
A power outage 11 minutes into the first term briefly put three of the main light
towers out of action, but the game continued without incident.
Port led by 13 points at quarter-time and should have been further ahead, after a
dropped mark by Chad Cornes in the Collingwood goalsquare set up Tarkyn Lockyer for
a goal.
Robbie Gray and Brendon Lade also had shots at goal late in the term, but they went
out on the full to ease the pressure on Collingwood.
While the Magpies were making too many turnovers, Port continued to squander scoring
chances in the second term.
Still, Port extended the lead to 19 points at 19 minutes in the second term after
Matthew Westhoff and Lade goaled.
Then Anthony burst into the game after managing only two handballs as the Magpies
had struggled to find targets in attack.
He marked and goaled at 23 and then 26 minutes and that reduced the margin to only
one goal at halftime.
The Magpies stunned Port at the start of the second half, breaking out a lead of 37
points at 20 minutes.
Two goals to Ebert, including a brilliant snap, reduced the margin to 26 points as
Port tried to stay in the game.
But a goal to Steele Sidebottom and Brad Dick's second of the term blew the lead out
to 38 points at three quarter-time.
Adding to Port's woes, Chad Cornes was forced from the field during the third
quarter with a leg injury and Matt Thomas limped off late in the last term.
Port also lost brilliant forward Daniel Motlop as a late withdrawal and Matthew
Westhoff took his place in the side.
