President of UN General Assembly meets with representatives of Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network

As part of his visit to Azerbaijan, Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly, has met with representatives of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network at ADA University.
The meeting, co-organized by ADA University and the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network, focused on the role of youth in sustainable development in the post-pandemic period of Covid-19.
Rector of the ADA University Hafiz Pashayev, who delivered an opening speech at the event, where the national branches of the youth network of the Non-Aligned Movement in other member countries also joined online, welcomed the President of the UN General Assembly and noted that he is the third President of the General Assembly to speak at ADA University. Hafiz Pashayev expressed confidence that Abdulla Shahid's meeting with young people will be productive.
Then, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan's initiatives regarding youth, both at the national level and as the current chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, and in this regard, he stressed that the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network was established in October last year at the initiative of Azerbaijan and the first Non-Aligned Movement Youth Summit will be held in Baku in July 2022.
Abdulla Shahid, who previously visited Azerbaijan as his country's Foreign Minister, said he was very pleased to visit the country once again. Emphasizing the exceptional role of youth in sustainable development, Abdullah Shahid stressed the importance of supporting youth as one of the important steps to be taken to maintain peace, security, development and multilateralism at the global level.
The head of the Azerbaijani branch of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network Ordukhan Qahramanzade also addressed the event and gave information about the establishment and international activities of the Network.
The event continued with a question-and-answer session.
