President Zhaparov launches construction of Kambar-Ata HPP-1

Bishkek, June 8, 2022. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov launched the construction of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 in Jalal-Abad Oblast of Kyrgyzstan. The head of the state pressed the button on the control panel, after which there was an explosion, symbolizing the start of large-scale construction. At the moment, there is a prepared part of infrastructure (bases, roads, quarries), close location of VL-500kV Datka-Kemin power line will allow to have Kambarata HPP-1 the lowest costs on the scheme of power output, will solve the problems of power supply of the population of the republic during winter period, in future will satisfy the growth of power consumption in the country and provide export potential within the CASA-1000 project. The Construction of Kambar-Ata Hydropower Plant-1 project is the biggest energy facility of the whole cascade of Kambarata Hydropower Plants. It envisages construction of a 256 m high rock-fill dam and a hydropower plant with installed capacity of 1860 MW, with average annual output of 5.6 billion kWh and total reservoir volume of 5.4 billion m3 of water. The construction period is from 8 to 10 years. Commissioning of the first hydroelectric unit of the HPP is four years in the presence of permanent financing.
