Kyrgyzstan, China to increase trade turnover, resume flights

Bishkek, June 8, 2022 . /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and China agreed to increase trade turnover at the state border checkpoints and to resume flights, the Ministry of Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said Wednesday. A meeting was held between Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev and member of the State Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi that took place in Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan within the framework of the 3rd meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the "Central Asia - China" format. During the meeting, the ministers discussed a wide range of issues of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations. They also noted the high level of political cooperation and interaction in ensuring security and stability in Central Asia. The importance of intensifying joint work on the implementation of the construction project of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad was mutually noted. "Jeenbek Kulubaev and Wang Yi also discussed issues of promotion of projects on reconstruction of roads of Bishkek and improvement of irrigation system of Kyrgyzstan by means of grant funds of the Chinese Government,” the report said. The sides agreed to make efforts to increase the volume of goods turnover and cargo flow at checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Chinese state border. The Chinese side noted its interest in importing environmentally friendly agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan. The resumption of flights between the two countries and the removal of restrictions on mutual travels of citizens was also considered. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev invited his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to visit Kyrgyzstan.
