Growth rate of spring field work in Kyrgyzstan outpace last year’s figures

Bishkek, May 16, 2022 . /Kabar/. Favorable weather conditions in April this year led to an increase in the rate of spring field work, the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan said. As of April 23 this year, more than 426 thousand hectares of spring crops were sown in the country as a whole, compared with the corresponding date last year by almost 14% more. The area of spring barley sown on April 23 this year, compared to the same date last year, rose by 14%, potatoes - by 19.6%, vegetables - by 14.6%, oilseeds - by 15.9% and perennial grasses - 21.4%. In total area of spring crops the biggest specific weight belongs to farms of Chui Oblast - 41,8%, Osh Oblast - 17,9%, Jalal-Abad - 15,5% and Issyk-Kul Oblast - 13,7%. Moreover, in April this year agricultural producers carried out work on feeding winter crops on the area of 63.6 thousand hectares and spring plowing on the area of more than 395 thousand hectares.
