Kyrgyz Parliament speaker, Turkmen leader consider issues of strengthening bilateral co-op

Bishkek, May 13, 2022. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov met on Thursday with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.
The sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Mamytov congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his election as president of Turkmenistan and wished him success in work.
The speaker reminded that the countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
"Kyrgyzstan is interested in further development of the established dynamic and sustainable interstate relations with Turkmenistan. In particular, cooperation in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. In this direction, the priority is to intensify cooperation in the field of energy and agriculture. It is also necessary to expand inter-parliamentary dialogue," Mamytov said.
He also mentioned the official visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Turkmenistan in June 2021 and invited the Turkmen leader to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, Serdar Berdimuhamedov shared his views on the implementation of joint economic projects.
"We intend to develop a comprehensive partnership with Kyrgyzstan," the Turkmen president stressed. He also conveyed words of greetings to Kyrgyz citizens and President Sadyr Zhaparov.
A delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh, headed by Speaker Talant Mamytov, takes part in the First Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asia and Russia in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
