Kyrgyz economy minister and rep of French company EDF discuss implementation of joint projects

Bishkek / Kabar /. Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Daniar Amangeldiev and Director of the PPP Center Sanjar Bolotov met with representatives of the French company Elektricite de France (EDF) and French Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Francois Delaus at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation and implementation of joint investment projects were discussed. In particular, the issues of the energy potential of the Kyrgyz Republic and the promotion of projects in the field of renewable energy on the principles of public-private partnership were considered.
The sides discussed the details of the projects, exchanged views, and reviewed the experience of EDF.
Following the meeting, Amangeldiev expressed readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to EDF in the implementation of projects in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Electricité de France (EDF) is France's major state-owned energy company and the world's largest nuclear power plant operator. EDF was founded on April 8, 1946 as a result of the adoption of a law on the nationalization of the electricity and gas industries. 85% of the company belongs to the state.
Today, the company, headquartered in Paris, manages 59 power units of nuclear power plants (NPPs), which provide 70% of the country's needs, as well as supply electricity to tens of millions of households and the famous French TGV high-speed railways.
The company's activities are aimed at: production and distribution of electricity; design, construction and dismantling of power plants; energy trade; and transport.
