Fish industry in Kyrgyzstan is developing rapidly, expert

It is planned to increase fish production in Chui Oblast to more than 30 thousand tons per year, specialist of the fishery registry department Kydyr Zhunushaliev told during a press conference at Kabar News Agency. He said that, in Kyrgyzstan, the main fish farms are located in Chui region: carp breeding - on the western side, trout breeding - on the eastern side. “In 2021, we organized a competition to lease land plots of the Kurp-Sai, Uch-Korgon, Shamaldy-Sai reservoirs to entrepreneurs. In the near future, we will assign these sites to business entities. According to our calculations, the annual fish production will be at least 8-13 thousand tons in these reservoirs, and in the future - 30 thousand tons or more,” the specialist said. He noted that this trend indicates that the fish industry in Kyrgyzstan is developing rapidly.
