Iraq, Mexico Discussing Exchanging Experiences, Especially In Archeology And Excavation

Baghdad / NINA / - Iraq and Mexico discussed the possibility of exchanging experiences, especially in the field of antiquities, excavation and preservation. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Chargé d'Affairs for Iraq in Mexico, Counselor Ali Essam Abd Ali, met the Minister of Culture of Mexico, Alejandra Fresto, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to open up prospects for coordination and cooperation between the two friendly countries, and the possibility of exchanging experiences, especially with regard to the field of antiquities, excavation, and preservation which are the focus of the two countries. The Chargé d'Affairs stressed that cultural relations can play a major role in developing relations between countries in addition to political, economic and trade relations, adding that they are an important means of increasing rapprochement and acquaintance between peoples and achieving dialogue and peace as well. He indicated that Iraq and Mexico have ties and commonalities, explaining that the civilization of Mesopotamia is more than 7000 years old, and the Mayan civilization in Mexico dates back to more than 2600 BC, stressing the possibility that the cultural relations between the two friendly countries can be launched from this cultural heritage. . For her part, the Mexican minister stressed the need to work to strengthen cultural exchange between Mexico and Iraq, which is the cradle of civilizations, adding that the Ministry of Culture has a sincere desire to build bridges and adopt a plan of action in this direction.
