Iran president urges expansion of ties with Pakistan
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday evening called for further expansion of Tehran-Islamabad relations in all areas.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.
The Iranian president stressed that promotion of bilateral cooperation would lead to progress and development of both states.
He added that the two states share identical views on many regional and international issues.
Lauding Islamabad’s efforts to fight terrorism, he hoped that such efforts would continue until eradication of terror from the region.
President Zardari said, for his part, that inking a letter of understanding by the two sides as well as finalization of the accord on export of Iranian gas to Pakistan were valuable gifts for the two Iranian and Pakistani nations.
He expressed hope that Tehran-Islamabad cooperation would further boost in the near future.
Zardari arrived in Tehran Sunday to attend a three-nation summit on Afghan security.
President Zardari along with the Iranian President and Afghan President Hamid Karzai attended the summit yesterday.
