Mottaki discusses issues of mutual interest with counterparts

On the sidelines of the 36th meeting of the foreign ministers of member states of Organization of Islamic Conference ( OIC) here on Saturday, Mottaki discussed issues of mutual interest with a number of his counterparts.

In a meeting with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmad Davoud Oglu, the two sides discussed regional cooperation as well as necessity of finding ways to develop relations among Islamic countries.
They also discussed the need of OIC’s role, as an important international organization of the Islamic world and a place for consultation on bilateral cooperation and discussion on Islamic world problems.
Meanwhile, Mottaki conferred with Lebanese Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh, Foreign Minister of Chad Ahmad Allam-Mi and his Phillipino counterpart Alberto G. Romulo as well as head of delegation of the United Arab Emirates on the first day of the meeting.
In these meetings, ways of expanding bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic field by using existing potentials, as well as regional issues like Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and the latest international developments were discussed.
They also underlined necessity of active involvement of OIC in the Islamic world problems.
The 3-day ministerial meeting of the member states of OIC opened here with the speech of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Foreign ministers of 40 countries and representatives from 17 Islamic countries as well as delegations from five other nations, as observer, are attending the meeting.
