Iraq, Serbia Discuss Ways To Enhance Bilateral Cooperation In The Field Of Education

Baghdad / NINA / - Iraq and Serbia discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of education. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary for Political Planning Saleh Al-Tamimi met the Serbian Deputy Minister of Education, Alexander Yuleg, in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, and they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of education, and to benefit from the Serbian experience in the field of education development in Iraq. The two sides also discussed the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research with its counterpart the Serbian Ministry of Education, which constitutes a basic nucleus for expanding cooperation between Iraqi and Serbian universities, and encouraging the student exchange program, research and postgraduate studies, and workshops. During the meeting, Al-Tamimi stressed the expansion of meetings with officials in the Ministry of Higher Education to discuss cooperation frameworks between the two ministries, and the increase in the number of students studying in reputable Serbian universities, expressing his desire to expand the horizons of cooperation between the two countries to include twinning between Iraqi and Serbian universities, concluding more exchange agreements between faculty members and researchers, expanding participation in scientific conferences between the two countries, exchanging scientific publications, and increasing scholarships for Iraqi students in various fields and specializations. For his part, the Serbian Deputy Minister of Education stressed the importance of activating more aspects of cooperation between the two countries.
