Iraq, Serbia Discuss Strengthening Relations Between The Two Countries

Baghdad / NINA / - Iraq and Serbia discussed strengthening relations between the two friendly countries. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary for Political Planning Salih Al-Tamimi met with the Serbian Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations Nemanja Starovij, in the capital, Belgrade, at the invitation of the Serbian side with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. Undersecretary Salih Al-Tamimi stressed the depth of the historical relations between the two countries, the need to activate and complete the concluded agreements, draft memoranda of understanding and draft agreements in all fields, mutual support for candidacy in international organizations, exchange of experiences and capacity building for the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the implementation of the terms of the memorandum of understanding concluded between the Iraqi Foreign Service Institute and the Serbian Diplomatic Academy in 2014, in addition to cooperation in the field of partnership programs between Baghdad and Belgrade in the field of reconstruction and infrastructure. The two sides agreed, according to the statement, to continue cooperation and mutual visits in areas of common interest and to serve the interests of the two friendly countries. For his part, the Serbian Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs stressed the continuation of work to enhance cooperation in various political, economic, scientific and cultural fields to serve the interests of the two countries./End
