Cabinet Endorses Order for 30 Million Doses of Pfizer Vaccine

BANGKOK, Nov 23 (TNA) - The cabinet acknowledged an order for 30 million doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine and the delivery was expected within the first three quarters of next year. Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said the order was a part of the country’s plan to acquire COVID-19 vaccines next year. The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration earlier approved the order. As a result, in 2021 and 2022, Thailand would have a total of 60 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine for COVID-19, he said. Besides, the spokesman said, the cabinet approved a project to lend 5 billion baht to new self-employed people and small business operators. The Government Savings Bank will lend the sum, at no more than 300,000 baht per debtor. The repayment period was set at 5 years and the interest rate at 3.99% per year. The cabinet also allocated 1.5 billion baht as compensation for the non-performing loans that may result from the lending project. The compensation was equivalent to 30% of the 5-billion-baht lending project, Mr. Thanakorn said. (TNA)
