Kyrgyzstan intends to complete legal formalization of Kyrgyz-Tajik state border

Tajikistan’s Dushanbe hosted on Sunday a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin. The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting of the two foreign ministers took place in the framework of participation in the European Union - Central Asia dialogue. A constructive dialogue on topical issues of the agenda of Kyrgyz-Tajik relations was held and the prospects for further enhancing of mutually beneficial joint activities, including at international multilateral platforms, were outlined. "In order to effectively address the priorities and further deepen bilateral cooperation, the need to increase the effectiveness of work within the Interstate Coordinating Council, the Council of Foreign Ministers of the two countries, parliamentary deputy groups, Kyrgyz-Tajik intergovernmental commissions for comprehensive consideration of bilateral issues and on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, as well as inter-ministerial consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers was emphasized. During the meeting, Kazakbaev stressed the Kyrgyz side aims to complete the legalization of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border as soon as possible, which will have a positive impact on the entire set of relations between the two countries.
