Viettel has put on the market prepaid mobile package

Hanoi (VNA) – The Military Telecom Joint Stock Company (Viettel) has put
on the market a prepaid mobile package designed with foreign tourists need in
mind called Tourist Sim .

Users of Tourist Sim, the first of its kind in Vietnam , will get
free-of-charge information on services, landscapes, hotel addresses, taxi firms,
foreign exchange rates and weather forecast.

The package comes in two different levels of charges: 5 USD and 10 USD. It offers
international calls at 3,240 VND (USD 0.18) per minute and an international SMS
message at 2,160 VND (USD 0.12), 10 percent and 13.6 percent cheaper than the fees
charged by other packages, respectively.

Viettel Vice Director Nguyen Viet Dung said that Vietnam welcomes around 4
million foreign visitors each year and telecom is one of the basic services for
them during their stay in the country. “That is why Viettel provides this
service,” he said, adding Tourist Sim are sold at airports, tourist sites,
hotels and resorts.

Viettel is now one of the country’s biggest mobile service providers with more
than 30 million subscribers after eight years of operation.

In 2008, Viettel was ranked 83 rd among 100 leading telecom providers in the
world by Informa Telecoms and Media.

It is also the first Vietnamese telecom firm that has provided its services
abroad. It now has two projects on setting up the Voice Over the Internet Protocol
(VoIP) service and mobile telephone service networks in Laos and Cambodia
