Businesspeople and experts from RoK visit the Dung Quat economic zone
Quang Ngai (VNA) – Businesspeople and experts in the field of environment from the
Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 18 visited the Dung Quat economic zone in
central Quang Ngai province to inquire into the zone’s needs for waste treatment
and local policy on environmental protection.
The RoK delegation, which included representatives from the Korea Environment and
Resources Corporation (ENVICO) and the POSCO group met with Vice Chairman of
the provincial People’s Committee Le Quang Thich, who said the zone is
particularly in need of technology for waste water treatment.
Thich said that the province gives the highest priority in line with the
government’s regulations to investment projects in the area of environmental
protection.
The delegation also worked with the Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board and
conducted field research.
Last August, a working group of ENVICO also conducted a survey of the existing
environmental infrastructure in the Dung Quat zone, especially facilities for
treatment of harmful and industrial waste.-Enditem
