Mauled surfer wants to get back on board

A Sydney surfer who had his hand torn off by a shark considers himself lucky and is
working out how to catch a wave once he gets back on a surfboard.
Glenn Orgias was surfing at sunset at Bondi Beach in February when a 2.5-metre great
white locked onto his left hand and nearly tore it from his arm.
Attempts to reattach the limb failed but the 34-year-old is moving forward in life.
"I saw that I had the injuries and then I saw my blood pouring into the ocean," Mr
Orgias told the Nine Network.
"And I knew that I only had a couple of minutes to really get into shore."
Mr Orgias has become an Australian Red Cross Blood Service ambassador and on Tuesday
helped launch a blood donation campaign in Sydney.
"I used somewhere between 100 to 150 donations worth of blood," he said.
Though he lost a hand from the attack, he refuses to focus on negatives.
"I think you have a choice in life - the way you choose to live your life," Mr
Orgias said.
"I'm so happy I'm alive. I'm ecstatic. Everything is beautiful to me at the moment.
I feel lucky, not unlucky."
He told the Seven Network he hopes to receive a prosthetic hand but it won't be
waterproof, forcing him to improvise when he gets back on a surfboard.
"Yeah, I'm not sure how to push up on the board yet and hopefully I can get back on
and get up."
