Bishkek hosts int’l conference with participation of WCO secretary general

Bishkek, Nov. 4, 2021 . / Kabar / . An international conference entitled "Trade Facilitation Measures During COVID-19 in Central Asia” is taking place in Bishkek. The event is being held within the framework of the First European Union - Central Asia Economic Union”. Main guest of the conference is Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya. First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiyev, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek Ekaterina Nakashidze, and representatives of customs authorities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are taking part in the event. The conference is discussing the main directions of simplification of trade procedures between the countries. First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Arzybek Kozhoshev said that digitalization of the customs system will make the agency's work transparent. "We are honored to host Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya. In partnership, we will be able to implement a number of critical issues for the efficient operation of the customs system. It is encouraging to see that our partners are ready to help Kyrgyzstan in various directions of customs development. Kunio Mikuriya participated in the launching of a regional training and cognitive center, as well as the establishment of a legal center. I am convinced that our cooperation will be fruitful and successful," he said. In an interview with reports, WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya said that humanity is faced with the phenomenon of COVID-19 pandemic, which negatively affected the livelihood of all countries. He added that today's conference is aimed to improve the work of customs services effectively in the conditions of the pandemic and observance of social distance. Meanwhile, Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiyev noted the extended meeting with the World Customs Organization secretary general will give impetus to mutual trade and simplification of customs procedures.
