Great French-German Support For Iraqi Cinema And Culture

Baghdad / NINA /- Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Hassan Nadhim confirmed that: The Short Film Festival, which brings together Iraq, France and Germany, is an important step to benefit from the two ancient countries in literature, art and culture. He said in a press conference at the French Cultural Institute this evening, Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Short Film Festival / Films of the Tigris Nights / in the presence of the French Ambassador / Eric Chevalier / and the German Ambassador / Martin Jaeger /: Today, this cooperation represents support for cinema and artists and provides an opportunity for the creativity of Iraqi and Arab citizens to be present at the international level. Nadhim stressed that: The ministry spares no effort to support art and seeks the help of France and Germany in this field, and we have a long-standing environment in this field. He added that: This festival is a great space for joint cooperation and the two countries' support for Iraq, indicating that the ministry will continue to support art and all creative fields through new ideas such as the poetry market with the French embassy and theater with the German embassy. He indicated that: cooperation with Germany was not limited to the technical aspect, but was preceded by German missions to excavate antiquities in Warka, and they have been present for long periods. For his part, French Ambassador Eric Chevalier said: Cooperation with Iraq in this field and others is continuing in the technical fields. He explained that, in this festival, 23 films will be shown, 6 of which are French, the same as German, and 11 Iraqi films He expressed his country's constant readiness to promote dialogues and festivals between France, Iraq and Germany, in addition to holding several exhibitions, poetry sessions and reading novels, in addition to the interest we attach to antiquities. He stressed that: Culture and cinema in particular enhance dialogue between countries, and we are ready to move forward in this field. For his part, German Ambassador Martin Jaeger said: It is important to support culture and we are happy to open the festival in cooperation with the Minister of Culture and the French Embassy. The festival will be opened to display many important Iraqi, German and French films. He continued, "The cooperation between France and Germany is continuing and intensive in support of different countries in the world. We are working intensively in Iraq together with culture, indicating that it was agreed to build several German-French cultural centers in several countries. He explained: We have many joint German-French activities, especially in cultural work with Iraq, in addition to the field of antiquities, and we are interested in preserving the cultural heritage in Iraq, especially as it is the cradle of civilizations./End
