Parliamentarians of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan discuss further strengthening cooperation

The issues of further strengthening Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation through parliament were discussed at a meeting in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan with deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament Ilham Mannanov and Azizbek Tursunbaev. The meeting took place within the framework of the visit of a delegation of the Kyrgyz parliament to observe the preparation and conduct of the presidential elections in Uzbekistan. It was noted that the peculiarity of these presidential elections is that they were first held in October in accordance with the amendments to Article 117 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Another important innovation - the presidential elections in 2021 were held on the basis of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Observers from Kyrgyzstan noted that the electoral process in the country was organized at a high level, new political technologies were effectively used, the political culture of the population increased, in particular, the activity of young people who participated in the elections for the first time. It was noted that the conditions created for voters with disabilities deserve special attention. In conclusion, the sides identified the priority areas of mutual cooperation of parliamentarians for the near future.
