Russian instructor: Iran plays crucial role in regional security
A Russian Military University instructor described Iran as the main contributor to regional peace and stability and said that it plays a crucial role in the Caucasus, Central Asia and Caspian Sea regions.
In an interview with IRNA Sunday, Harand Waskanian added that Iran opposes the presence of foreign forces in the region since this will only create instability and tension.
He added that Iran advocates non-interference of other countries' affairs and the accusations by the US and a number of western countries against Iran are false and unreal.
He contended that Iran-Russia ties provide a good potential for development.
Iran's incumbent government has made extensive efforts to expand cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, Waskanian noted.
He further pointed out that he witnessed extensive progress, particularly in the economical, social and cultural fields, during his last visit to the country.
Iran is considered one of the most advanced countries in terms of culture and economy, he noted.
