CCTS FMs discuss situation in Afghanistan and its impact on Turkic-speaking countries

Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2021 . / Kabar / . Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev attended an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) dedicated to the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on Turkic speaking countries.
In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed the initiatives of the CCTS countries in terms of providing assistance to the inter-Afghan dialogue, and also outlined guidelines for future interaction with Afghanistan on a number of key issues on the regional and international agenda, the press service of the Kyrgyz MFA said.
Foreign ministers of CCTS member states noted the need for the international community to take timely steps to prevent a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan and help the people of Afghanistan with the imminent onset of winter.
Ruslan Kazakbaev informed the meeting participants that on Sept. 23, on behalf of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov humanitarian aid was delivered to Kabul from the people of Kyrgyzstan. As part of this humanitarian operation, Kyrgyz representatives held several meetings with the leadership of the Transitional Government of Afghanistan.
The Council of Foreign Ministers considered the draft agenda of the upcoming 8th CCTS Summit to be held in Istanbul on Nov. 12, as well as other topical issues of multilateral cooperation within the framework of the Turkic Council.
The meeting resulted in a joint statement of the CCTS Council of Foreign Ministers.
