Over 52% of deaths in Kyrgyzstan caused by cardiovascular disease: ministry

Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2021 . / Kabar / . Cardiovascular diseases account for more than 52% of deaths in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Health Minister of the republic Zhalalidin Rakhmatullaev said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency. He added that the whole world celebrates the World Heart Day on Sept. 29 every year, which is held since 1999 on the initiative of the World Heart Federation and the World Health Organization. "The main purpose of this day is to promote preventive measures to reduce mortality from cardiovascular diseases, which account for more than 52% of deaths in our republic. According to WHO, it is possible to reduce mortality significantly by modifying the lifestyle. It is recommended to control blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose levels, to follow the principles of rational diet, stick to a low-salt diet and give up smoking," said the deputy health minister said. On Sept. 29, it is planned to conduct screening activities among the population. "Specialists will measure blood pressure, determine blood glucose levels, talk about the dangers of tobacco smoking and the basics of proper nutrition. We are waiting for everyone," Rakhmatullaev concluded.
