Iran and Uganda issued a joint statement Sunday for promotion of bilateral cooperation at the end of a visit to Tehran of President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni.

The Ugandan president arrived in Tehran on Friday to discuss issues of mutual interests with senior Iranian officials.

The joint statement was signed by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Ugandan counterpart Henry Okello.

The two countries called for expansion of Tehran-Kampala cooperation in industrial, agricultural, commercial and energy fields.

The two states have also agreed to boost bilateral cooperation at regional and international levels.

The Ugandan president was officially seen off by his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad earlier on Sunday.
