Iran among top ten manufacturers of gas turbines: deputy minister

Iran is among top ten manufacturers of gas turbines with capacity of 160 megawatts, deputy energy minister said on Saturday.

Hamid Chitchian told the inaugural ceremony of National Conference on Thermal Power Stations that fortunately, Iranians have attained great achievements in manufacturing turbines in the past 30 years.

Stating that Iran is the first country in Middle East in the field of manufacturing gas turbines with capacity of 160 megawatts, he noted that Iranian technology has entered the world markets and that Iran has built power stations in Iraq, Syria and Oman.

Referring to the development of power plants technology in Iran, Chitchian further said that until 1983, all power stations were built by foreign contractors without the involvement of the Iranian experts.
