FMs of Kyrgyzstan and Cyprus discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation

Bishkek, Sept. 21, 2021 . / Kabar / . On the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that topical issues of Kyrgyz-Cypriot bilateral cooperation, including in the framework of the upcoming in 2022 the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.
"Proposals to expand the legal framework between the countries were considered," the report said.
Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev invited high-level Cypriot delegation to take part in the First Economic Forum "European Union - Central Asia" which is scheduled for Nov. 5, 2021 in Bishkek.
In turn, Nikos Christodoulides expressed interest in further development of the Kyrgyz-Cypriot relations, and noted the readiness to develop a constructive cooperation on a wide range of issues, as well as to increase practical interaction.
In conclusion, the sides separately considered possibilities for joint measures to promote normalization of the situation in Afghanistan and leveling of its consequences for the countries of the region, including Kyrgyzstan. In this context, the foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Cyprus debated the possibility of implementing joint projects with the European Union in the field of education, health and food security.
