Man accused of mower attack extradited

A man accused of assaulting another man with a lawnmower and a microwave has been
extradited from Victoria to face charges in Western Australia, WA police say.
Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said a 25-year-old man was to be extradited from
Melbourne to Perth on Saturday to face a Perth court charged with doing acts with
intent to cause bodily harm.
The man was one of four men invited into a house in Kewdale, in Perth's east, by a
44-year-old man in March, Ms Weatherall said.
"They were invited in and an altercation then occurred in the backyard," she said.
"The man was assaulted before he fell to the ground and was again assaulted.
"A lawnmower was used to further assault the man, along with a microwave oven which
was used to assault the man to his head."
The injured man was treated for severe lacerations and bruising to his head and
body, in hospital, after his alleged attackers fled.
Victorian police arrested the 25-year-old accused on Wednesday and WA police
successfully sought his extradition on Friday in the Broadmeadows Magistrates Court.
He is expected to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.
