Wrestler Akzhol Makhmudov reaches final of Tokyo Olympics

Bishkek, Aug. 2, 2021 . / Kabar / . Akzhol Makhmudov from Kyrgyzstan performing in the weight category up to 77kg defeated Armenian representative Karapet Chalyan. Thus, the Kyrgyz Greco-Roman wrestler has advanced to reach the final of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. After two victories in the semifinals, Makhmudov met Karapet Chalyan from Armenia. Having confidently defeated his rival with the score 6:2, the Kyrgyzstani went to the final of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Thus, for the second time in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan the Greco-Roman wrestler reached the final of the main sporting event. Prior to that, Kanat Begaliev, the silver medalist of the Beijing Olympics, reached the final of the Olympic Games. The bout for gold will take place tomorrow, Aug. 3. Akzhol Makhmudov's rival will be Tamas Lorinc from Hungary.
