Trade Minister Discusses With US Ambassador Ways To Develop Economic And Trade Relations Between The Two Countries

Baghdad / NINA / - Minister of Trade, Alaa Ahmed Al-Jubouri discussed with US Ambassador Matthew Tueller ways to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries. A statement by the ministry stated that: During the meeting, the two sides discussed several topics, the most important of which is the supply of American rice to Iraq and the issue of TUV company to register factories for companies supplying Iraq, and exchange views on files that serve the interests of both countries. Al-Jubouri indicated Iraq's keenness to develop its commercial and economic relations with all countries of the world, especially the United States of America, in light of the Prime Minister's directives to openness to the global market and the importance of developing joint relations at all levels and seeking to open new channels of communication with the countries of the world. Al-Jubouri confirmed that his ministry is currently working on implementing the food basket project of (sugar, oil, rice, legumes and tomato paste) based on Cabinet Resolution 160 of 2021. For his part, the US ambassador called for developing relations and activating them in the economic aspect to serve the interests of the two friendly countries. During the meeting, the topic of the TUV company's program to register factories for companies supplying Iraq, which has been in force since the first of this June, was discussed./End
