Tabriz, Ataturk universities sign cooperation agreement

Tabriz and Turkey's Ataturk universities will cooperate in educational and research fields within a memorandum of understanding signed by them.

Announcing this, chancellor of Tabriz University, Mohammad Taqi Alavi said in a meeting with the chancellor of Ataturk University in Erzurum, Hekmat Kouchak, that undertaking joint scientific and research projects, exchanging students and holding joint scientific workshops are the focal points of the deal.

Describing Tabriz University as one of the leading universities in Iran, he noted that it was set up in 1947 as the second university in the country.

Currently, it admits students at doctoral and master's degrees in 78 and 106 courses respectively, he said.

Referring to cultural commonalities between the two countries, Alavi hoped that bilateral ties will further develop through academic interaction.

Kouchak, for his part, expressed pleasure over cooperation with Tabriz University and said that cultural commonalities between Tabriz and Erzurum can contribute to scientific and educational exchanges.
