Iran, Gabon sign cultural agreement

Iran and Gabon signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cultural, scientific and educational cooperation here on Saturday.

The agreement has seven articles and is drawn up in Persian and French copies by the head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Mehdi Mostafavi and Gabon Minister of Culture Paul Mba Abessole.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mostafavi hoped that Gabon's embassy will be set up soon in Tehran.

Cultural cooperation will help the two peoples develop a better understanding about each other, he noted, adding that his organization is ready for collaboration in the cultural, research and academic fields.

Abessole, for his part, said that the agreement is a prelude to an all-out collaboration with Iran.

"Iranian nation is a great nation and we are keen to forge communication with Iran, which has a rich civilization," he noted.

In conclusion, he added that exchange of students and instructors and establishment of academic departments in each other's universities will help strengthen bilateral ties.
