UN to consider providing assistance to victims of border conflict and evacuees

Bishkek, May 4, 2021. / Kabar /. Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN Mirgul Moldoisaeva met in New York with UN Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding Rosemary Dicarlo.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, during the meeting Moldoisaeva informed Dicarlo in detail about the current situation in the border regions of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In particular, she said that as a result of the armed conflict, 36 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic were killed, including children, over 180 people were injured, more than 33 thousand displaced persons, houses, educational institutions, and infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan were destroyed.
In this regard, Moldoisaeva expressed a request from the Kyrgyz side for UN assistance to internally displaced persons and their return to their places of permanent residence, as well as in the restoration of destroyed objects in the country. In addition, Moldoisaeva informed about the work of a joint working group from among the law enforcement officials and the executive authorities of the two countries with the aim of implementing appropriate stabilizing measures for further fruitful negotiation process.
In turn, Dicarlo expressed the UN's readiness to consider the issues of providing humanitarian assistance to victims of the conflict, as well as assistance to internally displaced persons evacuated from zones of armed conflict through the relevant structural divisions and agencies of the UN system.
