Kyrgyzstan hands protest note to Tajik ambassador over abduction of Kyrgyz citizens at border

Bishkek, April 26, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan hosted on Monday a meeting of First Deputy Foreign Minister Nuran Niyazaliyev and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan Nazirmad Alizoda, the press service of the Kyrgyz MFA said. The Tajik ambassador was presented with a protest note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan containing the extreme concern of the Kyrgyz side about the illegal actions of the Tajik competent authorities who kidnapped two Kyrgyz citizens on April 24 this year - residents of Leilek region of Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz side called on the Tajik side to take immediate measures to clarify the circumstances of the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and inform the Kyrgyz side of the results. Earlier, video materials about the missing of two Kyrgyz citizens on the border with Tajikistan were distributed on the Internet. Kyrgyzstan’s State Border Service reported that an information was received on April 24 from a resident of Beshkent village of Leilek region about missing of her two 19-year-old children. According to the woman, the boys were engaged in construction work in Say area. In order to clarify the information on this fact, a meeting was held between border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Later, the Tajik side handed two citizens over to the Kyrgyz authorities. One of the abductees said that they had been attacked at night by the military of the neighboring country.
