First shot of Sputnik V vaccine given to Honored Physician of Kyrgyzstan Mambet Mamakeev

The first dose of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V was given to Honored Physician of the Kyrgyz Republic Mambet Mamakeev, the press service of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry reported on Friday. A decision was taken to use the Russian vaccine for people over 65 years old and with chronic diseases. "The other categories will continue to receive Chinese vaccine at the first stage," the ministry said. 20,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus arrived in the country on April 22. Kyrgyzstan received 150 thousand doses of the Sinopharm vaccine of the Chinese manufacturer Beijing Institute of Biological Product Co. Ltd on March 19 and has started vaccination campaign on March 29. The inoculation is carried out twice, with an interval of 25-28 days. No side effects have been reported after immunization with this vaccine. As of today, 14,861 Kyrgyzstanis have got vaccination against the novel coronavirus, 276 of them – have received the second dose.
