Kyrgyzstan resumes transit passage through Kazakhstan

Bishkek, April 21, 2021. / Kabar / . Transit passage of passenger vehicles on the Bishkek-Talas-Bishkek route through Jambel Region of Kazakhstan has been resumed, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. This decision is a result of negotiations between Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held on March 2, 2021 as part of the Kyrgyz leader’s working visit to Nur-Sultan, as well as an agreement reached between prime ministers of the two countries during the 9th meeting of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council, held on April 2, 2021. Earlier, since March 16, 2020, passenger transportation on the Bishkek-Talas-Bishkek route through the territory of Kazakhstan was suspended by the Kazakh side due to the coronavirus infection pandemic. The Kyrgyz side expresses gratitude to Kazakhstan for providing humanitarian assistance to the population of Kyrgyzstan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
