Kyrgyz parliament speaker meets with chair of Azerbaijani National Assembly

As part of the meeting of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Talant Mamytov held a meeting with Chair of the Milli Mejlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova. The meeting discussed priority areas of cooperation between the sides, as well as issues of development of relations between the two brotherly republics in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament said on Thursday. Talant Mamytov and Sahiba Gafarova noted positive developments in trade and economic relations between the countries, but acknowledged that trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan does not yet match the potential of the two countries. Also, the need to strengthen inter-parliamentary partnership was voiced, which will contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries.
