Kashgari educational and cultural center planned to be built in Issyk-Kul

Bishkek, April 2, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Kairat Imanaliyev met with Osman Usta, Program Coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects for cultural cooperation, in particular the construction of an educational and cultural center named after Mahmud Kashgari in the southern bank of Issyk-Kul, where the great Turkic scholar was born, the press service of the Kyrgyz Culture Ministry reported on Friday.
"The construction and opening of a modern center that meets world standards will contribute to the education and culturizing of the population," the Kyrgyz minister said.
Kairat Imanaliyev also noted that Turkey and Kyrgyzstan have long had warm and fraternal relations, thanks to which important cultural projects are carried out.
In particular, he noted with gratitude Osman's visit to the Kyrgyz Film National Film Studio named after Tolomush Okeyev, where work on digitization of archive films is planned with the support of TIKA.
At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed readiness to further study the identified projects and hope for further fruitful cooperation.
Mahmud al-Kashgari was an 11th-century Kara-Khanid scholar and lexicographer of the Turkic languages from Kashgar.
Al-Kashgari studied the Turkic languages of his time and in Baghdad he compiled the first comprehensive dictionary of Turkic languages, the Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk (English: "Compendium of the languages of the Turks") in 1072–74.
