President Sadyr Zhaparov receives Ambassador of Qatar Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Sulaiti

Bishkek, March 25, 2021. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Kyrgyzstan Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Sulaiti. An exchange of views took place on the development of political, trade and economic cooperation, the Kyrgyz president’s press service said. The head of state noted the great importance that Kyrgyzstan attaches to the comprehensive development of interaction with Qatar. Speaking about political cooperation, Sadyr Zhaparov stressed that in recent years, many joint events and mutual visits at different levels have been organized between the two countries. In order to revitalize Kyrgyz-Qatari relations and bring them to a new level, the president noted the timeliness and urgency of organizing high-level visits between the two countries. Sadyr Zhaparov recalled, the state visit of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Kyrgyzstan in 2020 was postponed due to the coronavirus infection pandemic and stressed that the Kyrgyz side expects it this year. The president also noted the special need to develop cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, emphasizing the huge untapped potential between the countries. He urged to jointly and actively promote the priority areas of trade and economic cooperation, offering to hold the second meeting of the Kyrgyz-Qatari intergovernmental commission this year. Also, the head of state expressed his readiness to export environmentally friendly domestic agricultural products to Arab countries, including Qatar. Along with this, Sadyr Zhaparov proposed to consider the issue of introducing a visa-free regime for citizens of Kyrgyzstan to Qatar to bring the peoples of the two countries closer together. The ambassador of Qatar expressed gratitude to the head of state for the meeting. He stressed that today, within the framework of bilateral cooperation, a number of medical, educational and infrastructure projects are being implemented in the regions of Kyrgyzstan. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Sulaiti expressed his readiness to implement new joint socio-economic projects.
